Falkland's French Connection

Imogene McCathery follows the story of Scottish heroine, Imogene McCathery, a member of the McLeod clan who works as a secretary in the Admiralty in London in the 1960s. Dispatched to her native Scotland on a top secret mission to deliver plans for a revolutionary aircraft, Imogene has no idea what is in store for her, but be assured that “Danger, honour and love... Imogene to the fore!” (as the official synopsis states).
The film is adapted from the spy spoof novel by Charles Exbrayat, and is the directorial debut of Alexandre Charlot and Franck Magnier, who wrote 2008's hit Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis (Welcome to the Sticks), as well as Asterix at the Olympic Games. Imogene is played by one of France’s favourite actresses Catherine Frot, who has previsouly portrayed female detectives in Pascal Thomas' Agatha Christie adaptations, A Little Bird Told Me and Crime is Our Business. The film was shot last year in various locations in Edinburgh, Peebles and Fife, including Falkland Palace, historic home of James IV and James V.
A UK distribution date has not yet been announced but the film is due to open in French cinemas on 5th May, so if you’re lucky enough to be on the continent check it out. For now, have a look at the trailer, and even if your French is a little rusty we’re sure you’ll enjoy watching the fiery red-head tearing across the Scottish countryside in her fetching tartan wardrobe, catching criminals with fishing rods!
