Local Restaurant The Roost, based at Kintillo, Bridge of Earn, Perth, has been competing in Channel 5’s new cookery programme 'Kitchen Wars', hosted by Marco Pierre White.
Marco Pierre White uses his exceptional culinary eye to find the UK's best restaurant partnerships balancing fabulous food with seamless service. The restaurants are fighting for a place in a specially designed studio restaurant, where the top three couples will each be given both their own kitchen and set of diners to impress. It’s not just about being a good chef; it’s also about having the skills to run the best restaurant.
Surprising restaurant owners, Tim and Anna Dover, at the The Roost restaurant a few weeks ago, Marco Pierre White quickly put them through their paces, with Anna looking after front of house and Tim cooking up a storm in a kitchen barely big enough to swing the proverbial cat. Hugely impressed by their performance, Marco Pierre White declared The Roost to be “a hidden gem”.
Moving through the preliminary stages, Tim and Anna progressed to reach the studio sessions. The programme commences on Channel 5 on 7 June and Tim and Anna make their debut on 14 June. The result is still a closely guarded secret so make sure you tune in to find out how they fared.
The Dovers took over The Roost in 2008 and have worked hard to make the restaurant the success it is today. Tim learned his craft working alongside some of this country’s best chefs, such as Martin Wishart, Nick Nairn and David Wilson, as well as a spell with Daniel Boulud in New York. His cooking style has won many accolades along the way and he has been accepted as a member of Master Chefs of Great Britain. Anna and her team run front of house and attention to detail is key in service which is second to none.
The Roost is a Cittaslow Business Supporter and both Tim and Anna are members of Slow Food, taking part in and helping organise events organised through Slow Food Perth. A passion for locally produced, high-quality ingredients is evident in The Roost’s menus and aligns closely with the ethos of both Cittaslow and Slow Food.
