Ickle Film Fest 2012
Ickle Film Fest is a festival of short films screened across various venues in Dundee. The festival will showcase award-winning films produced by independent filmmakers and artists. Children, young people and families are especially welcome to attend a Saturday afternoon matinee of films that will include Dundee Contemporary Arts and Discovery Film Festivals Shorts for Wee Ones. There is free entry to every venue and screening.
Ickle Film Fest festival will take place in Dundee from Thursday 21st June through to Sunday 24th June 2012. Entry is free across all venues: The Little Theatre (Victoria Road), Generator Projects (Mid Wynd Industrial Estate) and Tin Roof (Ure Street). Each venue provides much needed important and exciting spaces for creative people in Dundee, supporting grass-roots activity in the city.
The festival will showcase four days of independent and artist made films from the UK, worldwide and local collectives including Art Angel and Boomerang. Ickle Film Fest was established by Duncan of Jordanstone graduates, Cara Pirie and Lucy Alexander and is now in its second year. This year’s festival is curated by Cara, Lucy and a small team of Dundee based artists and filmmakers. Following on the success of last year’s festival, Ickle Film Fest is kindly supported by Luna Film, Urban Print Spex Pistols.
The Line-up for the weekend:
Thursday night will see the festival open at The Little Theatre and 6.30pm featuring talks by Visual Research Centre archivist Adam Lockhart who works with the Rewind archive and Andrew MacLean from Yuck ‘n’ Yum, a Dundee based collective responsible for a highly successful Zine and AGK (Annual General Karaoke). The film screening will begin at 7pm, refreshments are available from The Little Theatre.
Friday evening at Tin Roof will host the second film screening to be followed with a live performance by 4MATT, a DJ set with live visuals, The Weeds and an after event at Zazou, Kage Night Club.
Saturday during the day the festival returns to The Little Theatre to show films aimed at a younger audience – children, young people and families are especially welcome. This screening will also host Dundee Contemporary Arts and Discovery Film Festivals ‘Shorts for Wee Ones’, and short films by Boomerang, a local youth club.
Sunday evening will be hosted at Generator Projects for the last screening of the festival. Expect to see artist made films in a relaxed environment with free tea and coffee to enjoy throughout the screening.
Ickle Film Fest is a brilliant chance to see a great collection of work and have a look inside some of Dundee’s creative spaces.
