somewhereto_ Make a Movie
Cultural Olympiad project somewhereto_ will be hosting ‘Pitch Party’ this Friday 6th July from 6pm till 9pm at Tin Roof Studios in Dundee, inviting young people aged 16-25 to find out about their new ShortCUTS campaign.
somewhereto_ helps young people find the spaces they need to do what they love within arts, sports and culture and ShortCUTS will be the first somewhereto_ venture managed in Dundee by a team of local volunteers. Claire Dufour, Lauren McCorkindale, Stephen Grant and Dylan Drummond hope to share their passions for filmmaking and photography with their local community by teaming young filmmakers with experienced mentors, and offering free access to unique filming locations around the city.
The team are looking for experienced film-makers to get involved and guide aspiring filmmakers from across Dundee.
All young participants will be supported by ShortCUTS, and encouraged to use the dedicated Facebook page, as well as local networking events to help them form film-making teams. Each team will then be assigned an experienced mentor, and given help in finding the locations needed for their film.
Claire Dufour, volunteer ShortCUTS coordinator says: “Friday’s event will allow young people to pitch film ideas to us and take their first step to finding somewhereto_ make a movie. Teams will then have until the 30th August 2012 to make and submit their film to ShortCUTS. The finished films will be shown in a special screening in an as-yet-secret location in September.”
To register, young people should visit Pitch Party now, and join the ShortCUTS Facebook page to start connecting with other filmmakers in Dundee, or contact the project co-ordinator, Claire Dufour, with any questions on firstname.lastname@example.org
