PROTO Movie CoPro - Location Denmark CGI Dundee
'PROTO’ is a sci-fi action adventure, about a child-like, experimental robot, set in the robotics lab where he has been built.
It’s a short film about freedom and the ability to choose your own destiny. Proto the robot has been made to fulfil the ambitions of his creator, Professor Andrews. But things don’t go to plan as he learns to follow his own dreams and ambitions. And it’s a film about love as Proto encounters a female robot who is also a violin virtuoso.
Produced by Richard Georg Engstrom and Eye Candy Film, Proto is an international co-production between members of North Sea Screen Partners. Screen South in England partnered with FilmFyn in Denmark and the Visual Effects Research Lab at the University of Dundee in Scotland.
Live action scenes were filmed in 2011 at Robocluster in Denmark, a working robotics lab. Then the project moved to the VERL in Scotland for post-production and CGI with additonal post by James Kearsley.
Proto was directed and written by Nick Pittom.
