BBC Radio Drama Readings Unit is now accepting submissions from writers new to radio for their annual series, OPENING LINES, broadcast on BBC Radio 4. The current window is open until Friday 14th December.
As well as broadcasting the three strongest stories, transcripts of the best stories will be published on the Opening Lines programme page.
Short stories should be original, which work well being read aloud, ie with a strong emphasis on narrative, and avoiding too much dialogue and digression. Particular attention should be paid to how the story opens and closes. Although they welcome a broad range of subject matter, dark and harrowing material is not best suited to Opening Lines.
