Production in Fife Tay & Scotland - Covid Update

Date: (10/06/2020)

Along with Screen Scotland and the Scottish Locations Network, FifeScreen+TayScreen welcomes the publication of guidance towards restarting film, TV and media production.

We look forward to welcoming production back to the Fife Tay region as soon as production can re-start in Scotland.

There are various codes of practice now in place. A key code that concerns film and high-end TV has been published by the British Film Commission (BFC) working in collaboration with the British film Institute and stakeholders across the UK including major production studios and Screen Scotland. Further codes include those published through PACT (Producers Alliance for Cinema and TV) by major UK broadcasters, the Advertising Producers Association and screen union, BECTU.

TayScreen has provided input through the Scottish Locations Network/Screen Scotland and Film Offices UK/Creative England.

Production has re-started to some extent in England. The Scottish Government will announce when this can happen in Scotland along with other industrial activities such as construction.

Currently in Scotland, only public service broadcasting can take place.
Scottish Government Phase 1 Guidance.

The codes broadly require productions to plan and provide safe workingenvironments, follow health and safety procedures and include having a member of the crew be responsible for supervising these.

It is anticipated that many studios, production spaces and locations may also have their own Covid responses and procedures.

As an initial response to this requirement, various training courses are being offered including by ScreenSkills.

An example of a previous course is shown at ScreenSkills and further courses are anticipated.

Further information is at Screen Scotland.
