Casting call to film locations and tourism businesses

Date: (12/04/2018)

Perthshire in Scotland is hosting Tourism Business Briefing - Screen Ready on 3rd May. This free event is by TayScreen, Visit Scotland and Create Converge and is a great chance to find out more about the locations, tourism and many other opportunities for working with production for all kinds of media - film, TV and even Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR).

The event is on 3rd May from 930am through networking lunch at 1pm. It's at Birnam Arts Centre, Station Road, Dunkeld.

Scotland's Tay Country plays a starring role in feature films, TV drama, commercials and fashion shoots from 'Victoria' to 'Outlander', 'Whisky Galore' to 'Tommy's Honour', Vogue to Volvo. The region plays host to at least 100 productions every year bringing production spending, promotion and benefits for business and tourism.

Screen production offers fantastic opportunities for tourism businesses and this is a chance to discover how your business can get involved and reap the benefits with our great line-up of speakers:

Amy Morement, Location Manager, LS Productions (Stella McCartney, Vogue)

Derek Yeaman, Location Manager (Sunshine on Leith, Not Another Happy Ending, Miss Potter)

Whitespace Creative Agency (VR and AR tourism experiences)

Julia Sim, Head of Sales and Marketing, Blair Castle (Locations - Victoria)

Linn Williamson, Chair, Filming Fife

Jenni Steele, Film and Creative Industries Manager, VisitScotland

VR and AR are not just made in studios or on computers. They can also involve location production and just like film and TV, also offer exciting ways to promote and experience places. More and more businesses are getting involved.

And with all those different screen experiences, just think about this.

40% of visitors to the UK are inspired to come here after seeing a destination on film, TV or web or even experiencing it through a game. Screen production and screen tourism go hand in hand. So if you're keen to get in on the act, then this is the event for you.

The event will inspire and inform businesses with practical hints and tips from working with film crews to screen tourism opportunities and regional success stories. And if you want to know more about working with VR/AR, Create Converge can help for free.

Also part of Perth and Kinross Business and Enterprise Month 2018, the Screen Ready event will start at 9.30am wrapping up at 12.45pm for lunch and networking until 2pm.

So come along and let's explore and make the most of this great opportunity together.
