Date: (20/04/2012)

As part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations, TayScreen continues our seminar series with a special presentation by animator and author Fraser Maclean, followed by a networking event at Dundee Contemporary Arts.

Date: Wednesday 9th May 2012
Seminar: 10.30am-12 noon (10.15am arrive)
Networking Event: 12-2pm
Venue: Dundee Contemporary Arts

Having graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1983 with a degree in Graphic Design, Fraser went on to train as a Film Editor in Scotland before being hired to work as a trainee Animator in the London Special Effects Department on “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” in 1987. From there he moved first to Passion Pictures in London and then to Cambridge Animation Systems and Telemagination before being hired to work for the Warner Bros. and Disney feature animation studios in Los Angeles on “Space Jam” and “Tarzan” respectively. Since 2000 Fraser has taught on many degree-level animation and design courses, in colleges and universities from Dundee and London to Salzburg and Beirut.

Fraser's talk will be based on his new book "Setting The Scene", which charts the history and development of the art and techniques of Animation Layout. From an initial proposal in 2007, “Setting The Scene” took nearly 4 years to research, write and bring to publication.

The event is free but places are limited so please make sure you register by emailing anna@tayscreen.com by Friday 4th May 2012. Refreshments will be provided. Please arrive at 10.15am for the seminar start at 10.30am.

We will also be hosting a networking event in DCA’s Meeting Room after the seminar from 12-2pm, which all delegates are welcome to attend.
