Preparations have begun for the 26th edition of Leeds International Film Festival in November. 2012 is the event's first year as an Academy Award Qualifying Festival, which means the winning films from their International Short Film and World Animation Compeitions will be considered for Academy Award nomination.
They are now seeking new films for this year's programme and every short film submitted will be eligible for selection in the international competitions. They also present British and Yorkshire Short Film Competitions and the Golden Owl Competition for new international features. There are aksi bib-competitive sections welcoming films of all types including narrative fiction, documentary, genre and experimental shorts and features.
