In the School of Arts, Media and Computer Games, we aim to educate our students to be the innovators and ground breakers in tomorrows computing and digital media-based industries. We offer a wide range of courses, from ethical hacking and games programming at the science and technology end, to narrative-based animation and digital media creation at the arts end. We have strong links with industry and major companies, and through those links we ensure that our courses are current and relevant

Involving both independent study and group work, students will produce and present campaigns to real clients, develop a portfolio of work to demonstrate their skills and abilities and learn from industry practitioners on visits to agencies and media owners. Units include: Advertising; Public Relations; Media Analysis; Marketing; Media Sales; Marketing Research; Consumer Behaviour; Copywriting; Creative Industries.

Applicants to the HND Computer Art and Design apply to either the Digital Art (visual communication) based stream focusing on Illustration and Graphic Design or the Animation based stream. Both aim to develop critical awareness of contemporary practice and developing knowledge of Computer Art and Design contexts within industry. Please state within your personal statement when applying which is your preferred option.

With some of the most outstanding music industry programmes in the UK in one place, you can choose from an NQ Access to Music and Sound through to BA Honours in Popular Music or BA Honours in Music Business and Masters in Music. We aim to give you a comprehensive view of the music industry as a whole, from artist development to promoting gigs and music festivals. Our staff have worked with bands across many genres, including Arctic Monkeys, Enter Shikari, Futureheads and Frightened Rabbit.

Audio engineering is an exciting and expanding area of the creative industries and can provide careers in music production, live events, TV and radio broadcasting, advertising, video games and movies. Our courses have professional accreditation from major industry bodies ensuring that the skills you learn with us are the same ones used in industry.

The MLitt in Film Studies will expand your appreciation of the medium in terms of its history, formal properties, and its relationships with other art forms. There is a particular focus on authorship and adaptation, as well as the transition from script to screen, drawing on an extensive collection of unpublished script material.
